Despite recent challenges, Asia Pacific’s economic landscape has been undergoing a remarkable transformation, fueled by a potent blend of domestic demand, foreign investment, and a conducive business environment. The numbers speak volumes, with the IMF forecasting impressive growth rates across major ASEAN economies such as Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia.
As an entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in the region, I’ve had a front-row seat to this evolution. What struck me most during this trip was the shifting paradigm among local businesses. Gone are the days of merely outsourcing to American companies; instead, there’s a palpable eagerness to embrace American technologies and innovations, paving the way for exciting collaborations and partnerships.
Moreover, the landscape of partnerships in the region is evolving rapidly. There’s a growing emphasis on mutual cooperation and shared success, with stakeholders increasingly focused on creating synergistic opportunities that benefit all parties involved.

Engaging with Business Owners and Clients
Local businesses in Asia Pacific are not only embracing American technologies and innovations but also focusing keenly on achieving tangible results. During the recent trip, I had the privilege of engaging with esteemed conglomerates such as Chip Mong Group and Vattanac Capital. Despite their stature in the industry, our meetings were characterized by a shared commitment to content and outcomes, irrespective of the setting. In one such instance, a gathering of over 10 individuals, including the president of the conglomerate, convened in a modest room where elbows nearly touched. Yet, the close quarters did not hinder our collaborative spirit. We came together to bootstrap a use case in Artificial Intelligence, leveraging tools such as Hugging Face’s tier 1 audio transcription and OpenAI’s back-end APIs. Our joint efforts culminated in a thorough analysis and exploration of the use case, paving the way for enhanced business and technology implementation strategies aimed at improving customer experience.
Strengthening Partnerships
How serendipitous it is to reconnect with a college friend and then embark on a journey as business partners. Indeed, it’s a fortuitous blessing. Our initial rendezvous dates back to the late ’90s in a University of Virginia game room, and over the ensuing 25 years, we’ve joined forces with a shared mission: to make a positive impact on local businesses and communities. It’s truly heartening. This spirit of collaboration and collective success extends beyond our personal partnership to encompass other remarkable connections forged during my recent travels. From engaging discussions with the local Chamber of Commerce to enriching educational exchanges with IMF My Duc, each interaction has been marked by warmth and mutual support. The encouragement and camaraderie of these local partners further solidify our commitment to actively contribute to the regional ecosystem, leveraging our expertise, resources, and global network to foster growth and prosperity.
